‘They will love the ground’ – Three mud lovers to follow at Market Rasen on Thursday

We are guaranteed pretty soft conditions at Market Rasen Racecourse on Thursday providing the course doesn’t fall foul to the weather like many other tracks in Britain this week. We take a look at three horses who should relish these conditions on Thursday, and best of luck if you have a play. Remember to check out our free horse racing tips on the website.

11.55 Market Rasen

The Rebecca Menzies runner Start In Front made every post a winning one when landing a Wetherby juvenile hurdle on British debut last December. The gelding has failed to build on that subsequently, and it was a surprise to see him given a patient ride when third at Wetherby when last seen. Proven in the mud, he might be hard to pass if they adopt forceful tactics.

1.40 Market Rasen

It’s Maisy ran out a 34 length winner at Sedgefield in April and although she was a very fortunate winner on the day, she got through the heavy ground well. She has a rather tough opening handicap mark to deal with but she is unexposed on heavy ground and there could be more to come.

2.15 Market Rasen

Roger Rarebit came back from a seven-month absence to make a winning chase debut at Uttoxeter over 2m4f when last seen and was really impressive when doing so in the mud. The son of Black Sam Bellamy can be expected to improve again for that showing and should prove hard to stop under a penalty. He has become very consistent since the visor was fitted and he has a very progressive profile so should go well.
