Owen Goulding takes on the favourites in his Tote Placepot perm for Newcastle

Newcastle Jumpers' Bumper

Weather permitting, we’ll have five meetings to enjoy on Monday! Newcastle, Carlisle, Fairyhouse, Plumpton and Wolverhampton all host cards that will hopefully warm up a chilly day.

We’ll have horse racing tips for all the action, but I’ll be focusing on Newcastle in this article. They host a card of jumpers’ bumpers, which are always fascinating heats. Hugely competitive, big price winners aren’t uncommon, and the Tote Placepot could be the way to go to make a profit.

You can find our Placepot selections for Newcastle’s Monday card below!

Monday’s Newcastle selections

Race 1 – 12.25 Quinnbet Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race

Showing inexperience before and during the race on debut, GRAND DU NORD can only improve for that course and distance experience. He raced wide throughout and looked well beaten four furlongs out, before rallying bravely into a never-nearer fourth. Micky Hammond is among the winners and much better can be expected today, especially with more of a test on the cards.

Race 2 – 12.55 quinnbet.com “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race

It’s difficult to oppose last time out winner QUEST FOR LIFE, who powered clear at Musselburgh two weeks ago. That was his first run since July and he’s entitled to take a big step forward from that in terms of fitness. He’s tactically versatile so regardless of how the race is run, he won’t be in any difficulties. If he does build on that recent return success, he shouldn’t be for catching here.

Race 3 – 1.30 quinnbet.com “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race (Div II)

He’s a short price, but KING D’ARGENT is going to very tough to catch in this. Dan Skelton’s charge is a tearaway front-runner who scored over fences at Warwick two starts ago, falling when in the lead at Newbury last time. Useful on the flat in Ireland, he’s likely to employ similar tactics today and if they leave him unchallenged out in front, they’re unlikely to peg him back.

Race 4 – 2.00 Quinnbet Best Odds Guarnteed “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race

Moon King sets the standard, but AMBASSADOR had some fair form on the Richard Fahey and has run well in a pair of hurdling runs for Dan Skelton. Beaten a head on hurdling debut, he bumped into some useful prospects at Kempton last time. A strong traveller, this sort of test should suit and he can take advantage of his allowances to give Harry Skelton a very good spin.

Race 5 – 2.35 Quinncasino Mares’ “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race

Previously a flat horse for Richard Fahey, JOIE DE VIVRE has been far from disgraced over hurdles for Martin Todhunter. She was a winner at Ayr two starts ago and her most recent third at this venue was another good effort. She’s been a model of consistency of late and she’s run well on this surface in the past. The race should be set up to suit and she’s a tempting each-way price under Sean Quinlan.

Race 6 – 2.35 Quinnbet Quarterback “Jumpers’ Bumper” National Hunt Flat Race

Onthefrontfoot is odds-on to land this contest and that’s no surprise after a pair of strong course runs in better races than this. That being said, the value could lie with GETAREASON, who had some very useful form for Paul Nicholls and Willie Mullins. He made his debut for this yard over course and distance last week, finishing a promising fourth. He has seven lengths to find with Onthefrontfoot, but it’s early days for him with Rebecca Menzies and his hurdling form suggests he can get much closer to that rival today.
