‘The new trip is a huge plus’ – 25-1, 16-1 and 16-1 ITV Outsiders on Good Friday 🥚

There’s some quality all-weather action on offer on Friday. Newcastle hosts the finals of the All-weather Championships and there’s some competitive handicap action at Lingfield. The ITV cameras will be there to televise nine races across the two meetings. We’ve selected three outsiders at big prices that can outrun their substantial odds. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.40 Lingfield

The Menstone Gem (16-1, bet365) is still fairly lightly raced and may not be fully exposed by the handicapper. His record on the all-weather is commendable, only failing to finish in the first three once and winning twice in just seven starts on an artificial surface. It was a good effort at Wolverhampton last time out as he finished third and was beaten by less than a length. If turning up here in the same sort of form, he should be in the mix at the business end of the race.

3.15 Lingfield

Rattling (16-1, bet365) was a course and distance winner on her penultimate start. The step up to 7f last time out clearly didn’t suit and the return to 6f here will be right up her street. It’s also noteworthy that the handicapper dropped her 3lb for that effort. Richard Hannon’s filly has to be in the mix now that she’s rated just 3lb higher than when last winning. Alec Voikhansky’s 7lb claim will continue to aid her cause and the pair get on well.

3.50 Lingfield

Farasi Lane (25-1, bet365) tries 1m2f for the first time here and his pedigree suggests the new trip could be a huge plus. He’s related to a 1m4f winner and 2m2f hurdle winner. A two-time winner in just six starts on the all-weather, that solid record includes a victory at Southwell over 7f last time out. The handicapper put him up 1lb for that win and if the 1m2f trip can inspire some improvement, he could well win again here.
