Sligo is a lovely track from a betting point of view. In general you need a nippy type that usually likes to be up near the pace. It’s very rare to see a horse come from the rear to win around here given the sharp nature of the track. I have picked out three horses that should go close at the venue on Wednesday.
Kitty Galore went off like the clappers when sent off favourite at Kilbeggan last time out and paid the price for it but is best judged on her penultimate start at Downpatrick where she finished second to Dazzling Darren in handicap company. She placed here over hurdles and loves a sharp right-hand track so she is a likely type on chasing bow. Trainer John Patrick Ryan is having a very fruitful spell the last couple of months and is a man to keep on your side at present.
Benefit Run bolted up in this race last year albeit off a much lower mark but arrives here off the back of a brilliant second of a 20-runner handicap at the Galway Festival and was desperately unlucky not to win, hitting 1.04 in-running when sent off a 50-1 chance. Only up 3lb for that so is a huge player in an easier race.
Fancy Foundations was extremely impressive when making the switch to fences at Down Royal in May and the well-bred Kayf Tara gelding could be an exciting prospect for the Gordon Elliott stable this coming season. His jumping was outstanding, travelled like a dream and could run them ragged around here.
