John and Thady Gosden have a terrific record at Chelmsford Racecourse, one that can’t be ignored. They have sent 21 horses to the track in 2022, and 11 of them have gone on to find the winner’s enclosure. That is a staggering 52 per cent win strike rate which is absolutely phenomenal.
Even though we have had a bitterly cold week on the weather front, we still have plenty of action to look forward to on the all weather. Check out our free horse racing tips on the website each and every day. Let’s take a look at the Gosden’s sole runner on the card at Chelmsford on Thursday.
The 1m2f nursery handicap might only have a maximum of five runners lining up, but it promises to be a thrilling little race on paper. John and Thady Gosden run Uncle Matthew, who at first glance could look a massive price at the 11-1 with William Hill.
This son of Fast Company has disappointed on all four career starts to date, and he was last seen finishing a tailed off last of 12 runners at Kempton Park on handicap debut over a mile 17 days ago.
Clearly, he must improve massively to play a part here but the trainer’s stats at this track would suggest that a big run could be on the way. He has been dropped 4lb by the handicapper and blinkers are reached for for the very first time.
He is about the right price on what he has shown to date but given connections, don’t be surprised if he goes off much shorter on the day. Good luck.
