Whilst the recent cold snap has rudely deprived us of our jump racing over the last week, the all-weather racing has given us something to sink our teeth into. There are three meetings on an artificial surface on Monday, from Kempton, Southwell and Wolverhampton. With this in mind, we’ve selected three outsiders who can out run their substantial prices. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Dark Pine (18-1, William Hill) is available at 18-1 currently and that’s a ludicrous price. It’s worth noting that he does have a substantial lay-off to overcome which has to have been factored into this price. That being said, he has some excellent form in better races than this. This includes a one length-second in a Class 2 event at Wolverhampton off this mark on Boxing Day in 2021. His last victory came on the turf in a competitive race at Chester off a 3lb lower mark. If arriving in top form, he could have way too much for these.
Phoenix Star (14-1, William Hill) now finds himself down to his last winning mark of 63. That victory came at Sandown in September but five of his eight career victories have come on an artificial surface. Disappointed over 6f last time and this seven-year-old will appreciate the return to 5f here. Last won on the all-weather at Newcastle in April 2021 and it’s about time he did so again.
They Don’t Know (14-1, William Hill) is yet to win a race but there’s enough evidence to suggest he can off this new career-low mark. Only beaten by half-a-length into third off a mark of 70 at Lingfield two starts ago and was denied by just a neck when second at Kempton in August off 72. Now rated 69 and absolutely has to be capable of getting his head in front here.
