‘That puts him bang in the mix’ – 28/1, 20/1 and 14/1 ITV Outsiders on Saturday

It’s perhaps not the greatest Saturday of racing action on the calendar but there’s plenty of action to look forward to. The ITV cameras will be out once again and they will be televising seven races from Musselburgh and Haydock. Persuasion (20/1, betfred) is a bit of a 7f specialist and he can be forgiven for needing the run on seasonal debut at Southwell. It’s important to note that his last win came off this very mark at Haydock in September and Callum Rodriguez was also on board that day. Now that he’s back down to a competitive mark, we should see an improved performance this time around.

Vintage Clarets (14/1, betfred) is very capable on his day and he managed to win a couple of times last season, most recently off just a 3lb lower mark at Catterick in October. This horse finished third in the Coventry Stakes as a juvenile and he should step forward from his first run of the season at Southwell. Returning to 5f should also help and he can outrun his odds here.

Lieber Power (28/1, bet365) was a narrow second in a valuable handicap at York over 1m4f back in August and it wouldn’t be a surprise if this trip suits. That form is amongst the best on offer and it puts him bang in the mix here. He had a troubled passage through before getting tired late on at Kempton last month and is likely to be sharper now.
