Sir Mark Prescott sends one runner on the 716-mile round trip to Leopardstown ⛴️

Sir Mark Prescott has had 20 runners at Leopardstown during his career and has come away with six winners. This gives him a more than respectable strike-rate of 30 per cent. Almost all of his runners there have run their race, with 16 of the 20 finishing in the first four.

It’s a massive 718-mile round trip from his Newmarket base and Prescott and the veteran trainer sends just one runner over on Thursday. It’s also noteworthy that this is his first Irish runner in the last two seasons. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

8.20 Leopardstown

Whatawit has had three bumper starts so far, winning twice. He won nicely at Huntingdon on his penultimate start and by a comfortable margin of eight lengths. The form of that victory is yet to be tested so it’s difficult to know what to make of it.

Following that up with an easy victory at Ffos Las last time out, he certainly comes here in good form. Prescott’s charge obliged at the very skinny odds of 1-100 and his sole rival was 31 lengths behind him. This could prove to be some very shrewd placement. As this is a Flat maiden, he runs here without any penalties for those wins.

The five-year-old must have a massive chance of getting his head in front and justifying the long and expensive trip over. Prescott has booked one of Ireland’s most promising amateur riders in the shape of Harry Swann and his 5lb claim will certainly come in handy here.
