We are in for a treat this weekend as we have some quality competitive racing to look forward to live on ITV Racing. Let’s hope we can have a good weekend on the tipping from with Royal Ascot on the horizon. It has to be very interesting that top female amateur rider Jody Townend travels over to York Racecourse for one ride on Saturday, and the horse in question has a big chance.
Townend will get the leg up on the Adrian Keatley trained Kihavah, who happens to also be our Nap of the Day. I myself was at the meeting in Musselburgh in February where this horse was punted off the boards over hurdles but could only muster up a respectable third on the day.
The fact he was heavily punted suggested that he was about to come into some form, and that did happen. He left behind a poor run over hurdles at Ayr and then won over course and distance on good to firm ground under Tom Marquand. He then went on to win at Market Rasen over hurdles and must be considered again in this amateur’s race.
Kihavah is only up 5lb in the weights on the Flat than when successful here on his penultimate start so the handicapper hasn’t gone overboard which is good. The fact Townend has come over to ride this horse speaks volumes as she is four wins from her seven rides this season. She is a quality pilot and you can be sure that she will give this horse the best chance of success on the day.
