Shark Hanlon sends his first runners to Catterick in over five years on Tuesday ⛴️

John Joseph Hanlon, more commonly known as Shark, has had three runners at Catterick during his training career. None of those have been in the last five seasons but that could change on Tuesday. Hanlon is set to send two interesting runners over to the Yorkshire track from his County Carlow base and both appear to have good chances.

Clearly a rare enough event to be noteworthy, we’ve added his two runners into a double for you to consider. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

12.30 Catterick

Dragon Rock is still relatively lightly raced and was a winner over hurdles for Willie Mullins in July 2022. He got off the mark over fences for Hanlon in good style at Fairyhouse last time out and left the impression that there’s more to come. Hanlon’s charge just about sneaks into this 0-120 with his British mark of 122 and the extended 3m1f trip should be to his liking. Amateur rider Paddy Hanlon takes 7lb off and it would be no surprise to see him run another big race.

Mullins Cross is a two-time winner over hurdles and she got off the mark for this yard in comfortable fashion at Bangor last week. She’ll have to prove her stamina here, having put in some underwhelming performances over similar trips in the past. The good news is she avoids a penalty for her recent victory and you would have to fancy her if reproducing a similar effort here. Brian Hughes has been booked for the ride and that can only be a positive.
