Rachael Blackmore furthered her lead in the race to be top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday. This was thanks to victory on Telmesomethinggirl in the Parnell Properties Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
It was her fifth winner of the week and second winner of the day after winning the Ryanair Chase aboard Allaho. Telmesomethinggirl was the third winner at the festival that she rode trained by Henry de Bromhead.
She heads into Gold Cup day on the crest of a wave and she has some great rides again on Friday. Three in particular stand out to form a massive accumulator.
Zanahiyr is all the rage for this race for “Sneezy” Foster but Quixilios has major claims. The French import won all three starts for Gordon Elliott, and the form was franked by Saint Sam who was second in the Spring Juvenile this week. There should be more to come and he is not to be underestimated.

This is a tough tough race. Twenty-six runners will go to post for this ferociously competitive handicap but Champagne Gold deserves to be near the head of the market. Running in the famous Barry Maloney silks, he got off the mark in a Wexford maiden in October. Since then he has progressed, third to Fakiera in a Grade 3 before being collared late in a very valuable Leopardstown handicap. More to come.
Rachael has every chance of tasting the ultimate success aboard A Plus Tard for Cheveley Park. This is the only horse to have lowered the colours of Chacun Pour Soi in Ireland. A 16-length winner of the Close Brothers two years ago, he produced a career-best effort to win his second Grade 1 in the Savills Chase. He had Allaho 20-lengths behind that day so it looks like serious form.
