Nonetheless, he won his bumper at Ffos Las impressively last season and won over track and trip on his reappearance so he’s not one to give up on.
The Skelton team bid to land this competitive six runner chase with Mount Tempest, who certainly knows his way around this track. Twice a winner over hurdles, he won over course and distance in December before following up at Wetherby in style this month. In his current form, he could prove very hard to beat.
Winner of the Grand Military Gold Cup last year, Broken Halo is back for more and bids to make it a perfect 3/3 under amateur rider Jody Sole. Paul Nicholls’ gelding has failed to complete in his two outings this season but should win this if back to his best. He comes with risks attached but he is the most likely winner.
