In what has turned out to be a strange turn of events, Constitution Hill will take on stablemate Shishkin in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Sandown Racecourse on Saturday. We have a runner-by-runner guide and an each-way play for the race. It would be too easy to tip Constitution Hill, wouldn’t it? So, we are going to see if we can find the horse who can give him most to think about. Read on below.
1 Constitution Hill
Unbeaten in seven starts over hurdles, it will take something catastrophic for this boy to get beaten. The Champion hurdler will be very skinny odds but deservedly so.
2 Goshen
Classy on his day and should have won the Triumph but for unseating rider in 2020. He enjoys this track but is likely to come up well short in a race of this nature.
3 Not So Sleepy
Front runner who might string them out early on here, but that is likely to set the race up for Constitution Hill. He won the race two years ago but won’t this year.
4 Shishkin
Refused to race at Ascot recently and he is a chaser these days. This is likely to be a warm up for the King George and it would be a surprise if he had the pace to get involved.
5 Love Envoi
Classy mare who last seen flopping at Punchestown at the end of last season, but she has some solid form in the book and should enjoy the ground.
6 You Wear It Well (Each-way selection)
If Constitution Hill somehow fails to deliver, then this mare might be the one who will take advantage. She was impressive when landing a Listed hurdle at Wetherby and will have fitness on her side.
