Sam Thomas has done well with a small number of runners since taking out a license. His winners seem to come in bunches so with two scorers from his last four runners, it could pay to follow the yard for a while. Just a single runner for him on the Fakenham card, a 458-mile round trip for the yard.
There is also racing at Nottingham and Taunton in the afternoon, Dundalk have a twilight card and Kempton race in the evening. Another busy day for our horse racing tips.
With the Paul Nicholls yard another to be banging in the winners at present, it’s no surprise to see the favourite in here representing that yard. That runner makes the market for Paddy’s Motorbike representing Sam Thomas. As such, those who like the second favourite get a little more bang for their buck.
A smart performer both on the flat and over hurdles, he is nine now as he tries chasing for the first time. He was far from disgraced in a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Ascot when last in action from a mark of 131, not meeting anything like that quality of opposition here.
He has a little less to prove than the favourite despite his age, given that rival was far too keen and pulled up the only time that he took on decent opposition. This is a sharp track but if he is too keen again after a break, he is simply going to set this race up
Sam Thomas’s charge is another quality rival and he may just have too much experience of a battle for his younger and less exposed rival. He may appreciate a touch further ideally but there should be a decent pace on here despite the small field which can set the race up for him.
