Tips for Dundalk Races

Dundalk racecourse is unique in Ireland for two reasons; it is the only All Weather track and the only with floodlights. It races throughout the year, and has generous prize money which often attracts large fields.

Course: A left handed, one mile two furlong oval, it is fair and flat. All races feature at least one bend. A cutaway rail was added in 2013 on the home straight which has made racing much fairer and allows for many more close finishes.

Surface: Dundalk has used a Polytrack surface since 2007. This is the same surface as is used at Lingfield, Kempton & Chelmsford in the UK, and some of our Dundalk tips will be British raiders heading over for the bigger races.

Draw Bias: Over the sprint trips, there tends to be a slight bias towards low draws, likely because of the early left bend.

Feature Race: The feature race of the year is the Group 3 Diamond Stakes in September/October. It boasts a healthy prize pool and is run over just further than a mile and two furlongs. Aidan O’Brien traditionally has a very strong record in this race and our tips always give his runners plenty of respect.
