Record-breaking Hollie Doyle bids to continue red-hot form at Southwell

Posting a remarkable 899/1 five-timer at Windsor on Saturday, Hollie Doyle’s remarkable season just keeps going from strength to strength. Grabbing a further three winners at Yarmouth on Sunday, Doyle accumulators are likely to be the bookie’s biggest fear on Monday at Southwell!

She has eight rides at the venue on Monday, which gives her the potential to go through nearly the entire card. Now that really would be unlikely, but we’ve seen Doyle perform some miracles of late.

We’ve gone through all of Doyle’s rides on Monday, to see just how likely it is that the young revelation could post up another red-letter day.

12:35 Southwell – Light Lily

One of three winners for Doyle yesterday, Light Lily was a comfortable scorer, making it two wins from three recent starts. She returns to her favoured All-Weather here with a six-pound penalty to carry, so she’s certainly got strong claims.

1:10 Southwell – Zumaaty

Costing 40,000gns as a yearling, he’s a half-brother to three winners making his debut for Archie Watson. The yard has a good record with its juvenile runners and although he has a fair standard to aim at, he’s got an each-way squeak if clued up for his racecourse bow.

1:40 Southwell – Snow Leopard

A twelve-race maiden, Snow Leopard has struggled for form in four starts since the lockdown ended. Well-held in three flat handicaps, a run over hurdles proved fruitless earlier this month. Three pounds out of the handicap, he’s more difficult to recommend.

2:10 Southwell – Luscifer

Breaking his maiden over seven furlongs here back in February, Luscifer is just a pound above that mark at present. He’s been running fairly since the lockdown lifted but has hinted strongly that his time wasn’t far away. Market support could be interesting and plenty to recommend him on.

2:40 Southwell – Requited

Inconsistent four-year-old who has been well beaten either side of his Lingfield victory from two starts ago. Little to write home about when dropped to five furlongs at Sandown earlier this month when weakening tamely. Well-treated on All-Weather form but has risks attached given his profile.

3:15 Southwell – Requited

Debuting as a five-year-old earlier this month, Popple wasn’t disgraced to finish fourth at Lingfield. He could feasibly step forward from that and the fact he’s been persevered with does indicate there’s something under the hood. Couldn’t be discounted by any means.

3:50 Southwell – Melgate Magic

Missed most of 2019, running just once last year for Michael Easterby. Has shown little in a pair of starts since returning, latterly when beaten twenty lengths at Catterick. On his last winning rating and may be at peak fitness now, but there’s obvious risks attached.

4.25 Southwell – Born Leader

Has placed on three of her last five starts, latterly when beaten a neck at Windsor off today’s rating. Stepping up to fourteen furlongs didn’t suit at Ffos Las last time and returns to a more manageable trip today. On a good mark if on a going day and could have more to offer on just her second All-Weather start.
