Rare raid for Trainer travelling 624-mile round trip to Exeter with 1 runner

An inspection at Exeter on Saturday afternoon was passed, and hopefully will do so again on Sunday morning. It’s an interesting card and none more so than the 2.10 which sees a very interesting raider from Yorkshire. This trainer tends to keep his horses much closer to home so to send just a single runner on a 624-mile round trip could well be significant.

Looking at the tracks in the south west of England, this trainer has 0 previous runners at Exeter on the RP stats page. He has had just 2 at Newton Abbot, 1 at Taunton and 2 at Wincanton so it’s incredibly rare to see runners in this part of the country for the man in question, Mick Easterby.

We will have free horse racing tips for both Exeter and Southwell on Sunday and we have all the latest free bets and bookmaker offers on the site.

ELYSIAN FLAME is the horse in question, taking the long journey down from Sheriff Hutton. He is yet to get his head in front in five starts over hurdles but he has kept some fair company. He has placed off marks in the late 80’s on the flat which suggests that somewhere north of 130 is workable over hurdles, he runs off 120 here. Of course, that is not a hard and fast approach but it gives an indication of where he could get to.

A fourteen furlong horse on the flat, this trip should be well within his capabilities over hurdles. Soft ground always suited well when racing on the level so conditions should be fine for him as well. His yard have always been masterful when it comes to placing horses so while he has a bit to do on his hurdles runs, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him capable of better.
