Racing League: Three Newcastle course specialists to follow on Thursday

The Racing League continues on Thursday and it’s Newcastle‘s turn to host a fixture. As per usual, all seven races will be live on ITV4 and could be worth a watch. Newcastle is a stiff track which wouldn’t be to every horse’s liking and the Tapeta surface is also an acquired taste. With that in mind, we’ve picked out three horses to follow with proven records at the track. Why not check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing, as our Nap of the day has been in great form so far this month.

6.15 Newcastle

Humble Spark has been very consistent since April and it’s notable that all of his best efforts have come at stiff tracks. Two of his three successes have come here at Newcastle, most recently off a 10b lower mark in June. Victorious off a 1lb lower mark at Hamilton last time out, he’s entitled to go close once again, provided the step up in grade isn’t a problem.

7.45 Newcastle

Eldrickjones runs his race at Newcastle more often than not and has only failed to finish outside of the first two in three of his eight starts here. Roger Fell & Sean Murray’s five-year-old was an easy winner here off just a 2lb lower mark in May and a similar effort should put him bang in the mix. Useful apprentice Brandon Wilkie takes 5lb off and that can only aid his chances.

8.15 Newcastle

The Caltonian absolutely loves Newcastle, having won here four times and placing a further three times in just nine starts. That’s certainly a formidable course record and it would be no surprise to see Linda Perratt’s gelding run another big race. He has put in some solid efforts on the turf recently but all five of his wins have come on the all-weather and he’ll appreciate the return to an artificial surface.
