Punchestown Outsiders: Liam with confident 14-1, 12-1 & 12-1 Thursday picks 🐎

Thursday is day three of the Punchestown Festival and there are a further two Grade 1 races to enjoy as well as some really competitive handicaps. The Champion Stayers Hurdle is the big race of the day and we’re back with three more live outsiders after a 12-1 place on Day 1. These horses look like they could be overpriced if you’re on the lookout for some each-way value. Check out our free tips page for content across all British and Irish racing daily.

3.40 Punchestown

Hide and Seek (12-1, Betfair) looks like a very interesting proposition here. She has progressed really nicely in her last three runs. The form of her third behind El Fabiolo and Tempo Chapter Two has worked out really well. El Fabiolo was narrowly beaten in a Grade 1 and the second has won comfortably since. Having won nicely last time out, there should be plenty more to come and this looks like a tempting opening mark.

5.25 Punchestown

Vanillier (14-1, bet365) looks like a spring horse on the evidence of his comprehensive win in last year’s Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Things haven’t quite worked out for him over fences this year despite winning a Grade 2 here by 26 lengths. Hopefully the return to hurdles can inspire a return to last spring’s form and if it does, this price could look silly in an open renewal.

6.00 Punchestown

Maze Runner‘s (12-1, Betfair) slow return to form is coinciding with his slow decline in the handicap. He has perhaps struggled with his mark since winning well at Leopardstown in February last year. The fact that this gelding was staying on in an attritional renewal of the Coral Cup last time out suggests that three miles is his trip. Since the handicapper dropped him a pound for that effort, he should be even closer to winning here.
