Owen’s Outsiders: Three 20-1 tips for Saturday’s ITV Racing

Owen's Outsiders

Saturday’s racing promises to be a treat! Sandown is the feature meeting, with the Coral-Eclipse the icing on the cake of a supreme card. We may only have four runners, but the contest doesn’t lack quality, as Mishriff, St Mark’s Basilica and Addeybb lock horns in a clash of the generations.

We’ll have horse racing tips for all of Saturday’s action, including Haydock, which hosts the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks. If you’re looking for some big prices, then you’ve certainly come to the right place! I’ve found three horses at bigger odds for Saturday’s live action, and you can find all the analysis below.

2.05 Haydock – bet365 Handicap

It’s still very early days for REVEREND HUBERT (20-1), who made a winning handicap debut at Salisbury in May. Ridden along a fair way from home, he didn’t enjoy the best of passages but still got up in the nick of time. Pulling nine lengths clear with the eventual second, that rival has subsequently franked the form.

Sent to Doncaster last time, he was once again under pressure a fair way from home, badly hampered from the furlong pole all the way to the line. His rider was unable to ride a finish on him and although he may not have won, he’d certainly have been much closer.

He’s just one-pound higher today and after just five starts, you’d have to think that his better days are ahead of him. A strong stayer, he’ll relish a true test at this distance and he won’t mind if any rain falls either. At 20-1, I think he’s greatly underestimated with Thore Hammer Hansen claiming three pounds.

2.25 Sandown – Coral Challenge

This is another devilishly competitive renewal of the Challenge and ACCIDENTAL AGENT (20-1) would be a hugely popular winner. A surprise winner of the 2018 Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, he’s been unable to add to this tally since, but his 2021 runs have suggested another victory wasn’t too far away.

He was slowly away on return at Newbury and was the only horse who managed to land a blow from the rear division, so it’s easy to upgrade that effort. His most recent start in the Queen Anne was an ambitious tilt, but he acquitted himself fairly to finish seventh.

There’s no doubt about it, he’ll need everything to drop right to be scoring again. He’ll need a strong pace to aim at on slightly softer ground, but he should get both of those on Saturday. The stiff finish at Sandown will play to his strengths and at 20-1 back in a handicap, he’s one who should be threatening late on.

3.00 Sandown – Coral Distaff

She’s been bitterly disappointing in two starts this year, but SENITA shouldn’t be a 20-1 shot in this contest. Trained by John & Thady Gosden, she shaped like a horse with a bright future last year, off the mark with a devastating turn of foot at Redcar last October, her third racecourse visit.

Stepped up in trip for both her 2021 starts, she’s raced too freely and has weakened tamely. Given her impressive pedigree, closely related to Group 1 winner Midday, it’s hard not to be disappointed. That being said, given her keen going nature, she’s likely to be better suited by the mile and she returns to that trip today.

The hood is removed from her most recent start and a stiff mile should play to her strengths. She’ll certainly need to settle better, but they should go a stronger gallop in this race which will help in that regard. The yard is in scintillating form and at 20-1, I’m more than happy to take a chance on her.
