Oisin Murphy rides over hurdles for the first time at Wincanton on Thursday 👀

Oisin Murphy is one of the finest Flat jockeys around and was champion jockey in that sphere for three consecutive years between 2019 and 2021. The Killarney-born jockey has done plenty of eventing and show jumping in the past but has never ridden over Jumps. That could change on Thursday however, as he’s set to ride one over hurdles at Wincanton. He’s on board an Irish raider and will be looking to make his first ride a winning one. 2.05 Wincanton

Lets Do This represents Cian Collins and the County Meath-based trainer has had five winners in Britain. It appears to be a day of firsts as Collins is yet to have a runner at Wincanton also. The horse has had five starts over hurdles to date and there have been some positive signs, since switching to handicaps.

He went markedly up in trip to an extended 3m1f on handicap debut at Sligo on his penultimate start. That certainly seemed to suit as he was denied by just a short head, back in second. The form of that race is a mixed bag but a couple of subsequent winners have come out of it. Too keen at Navan last time out, he wasn’t beaten far in sixth but is clearly capable of better.

Murphy’s mount can still be considered unexposed and it’s likely that the best is yet to come. The extended three-mile trip here should suit nicely and he certainly looks capable of winning races. Oisin Murphy appears to have every chance here and it will be interesting to see if he begins to ride more regularly under National Hunt rules.
