Monster gamble alert – Horse backed from 33-1 into 9-1 at Southwell

Our resident horse racing expert Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 7.15pm at Southwell tonight. Don’t miss out on our posts on Twitter @myracingtips where you can message us directly and have your say. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in terrific form this month. Let’s take a closer look at this big gamble in more detail below.

7.15pm Southwell

The final race tonight is a low grade affair and to many is arguably a very boring contest. It is a Class 6 handicap contest for amateur riders so the race will clearly come with plenty of risks attached. Anyone willing to part with their hard earned on this race must accept the fact their horse will more than likely be ridden by an inexperienced pilot.

There are only two jockeys in the field that could be considered very good amateurs. They are Simon Walker and Serena Brotherton. Simon will take the ride on Adrian Keatley’s Mo Henry, who himself has seen plenty of market support this morning. Serena will get the leg up on the top weight Spring Romance who is the current favourite.

Backed from highs of 33-1 last night down to 9-1 this morning, the gamble horse is CRASH HELMET. The five year old makes his fibresand debut after a 67-day break for trainer Micky Hammond and Becky Smith takes the ride. He ran twice at Newcastle off the back of an eight month break in September and October, running respectably without threatening.

His sole success came at Newcastle back in 2018 but he has really struggled since. It is difficult to see where the improvement is going to come from. Backers must take solace from the fact that every time he went off single figure odds, his form reads 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 5th. If he continues to be well backed before the off, the market will speak very well in his favour.
