Liam’s longshots: 25-1, 16-1 and 14-1 tips to take on the favourites with on Thursday 🏹

We are late into the Flat season now but there’s still plenty of excellent action to enjoy. There are two British Flat meetings taking place on Thursday. These cards take place at Ayr in the afternoon and Chelmsford in the evening. Liam Bramall has selected three outsiders at juicy prices who may have gone under the radar. 3.00 Ayr

It has been quite some time since After John (25-1, William Hill) won a race. His last victory came back in August 2020 at Redcar. Perhaps understandably, this has been factored into his price. There have been some highly promising recent efforts at Thirsk and Haydock. He has perhaps been a tad unfortunate to have not won yet for Iain Jardine. Recent efforts at Carlisle and Doncaster were below-par but he’s back on a competitive mark here. Definitely capable of outrunning these odds.

3.35 Ayr

Ugo Gregory (14-1, William Hill) has been an absolute catastrophe so far this season so you can forgive this massive price. It does provide a potential opportunity to take advantage of the fact that he’s now rated 10lb lower than when last winning. Evidence suggests that he’s capable of much better than we’ve seen from him so it could only be a matter of time before he bounces back. The further Tim Easterby’s gelding slides down the weights, the more interesting a proposition he becomes.

7.00 Chelmsford

Adelita (16-1, William Hill) is yet to win a handicap but that could change soon. She’s sliding down the weights and looks more enticing with each pound dropped. Hasn’t won since scoring in a Lingfield novice event back in April 2021. Having put in some decent placed efforts off higher marks, she looks dangerous off of 70. Tries 1m2f for the first time and if that facilitates some improvement, a win could be on the cards.
