Jockeys for courses! Key stats and trends for Sunday’s racing

We have some fantastic racing to look forward to on Sunday, with Salisbury, Thirsk, Windsor, Downpatrick and the Curragh all hosting cards. This includes the Group 1 Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the latter!

We’ll have horse racing tips for all of those meetings! This article will be focusing on the statistics and trends, namely, which jockeys excel at certain courses! Are you a stats man? Then you’ll want to be following these riders!

Salisbury

David Probert can boast of a £28.37 profit to level stakes at Salisbury in the past five seasons. His book of rides is nearly full on Sunday, with Duke Of Hazzard having strong claims in the feature Group 3 Sovereign Stakes.

He’s been running extremely well in higher grades this term, including a second-place finish at Glorious Goodwood at Group 2 level. He’s extremely consistent and another big run can be expected.

Thirsk

Riding eighteen times at Thirsk this year, David Nolan currently sits at four winners. That equates to a 22% strike-rate and a £22 profit to level stakes.

Gleaming Arch returned this season with a superb second at Ayr and his mark is unchanged. He’s only three pounds above his last winning rating and is unexposed over the six-furlong distance; that gives him outstanding claims.

Windsor

Quite remarkably, if you had backed Tom Marquand blind at Windsor this year, you’d be in £93.45 profit. His eight winners clearly have been at superb prices and he has a full book of rides on Sunday.

The extremely consistent Baryshnikov went down by a head at Pontefract on his latest outing. He’s up three pounds, but he’s yet to run a bad race in 2020 and deserves his turn for David Barron. Marquand takes over for the first time and that could be the spark this four-year-old needs.

Downpatrick

Thanks to a 50/1 winner earlier in the season, Noel McParlan has a £49.00 profit to level stakes at Downpatrick in 2020. He’ll have another big-priced chance aboard As The Crow Flies on Sunday.

A five-time point winner, he’s enjoyed limited success under rules thus far. Those three runs came over hurdles, however, and he now switches to fences. This isn’t the strongest of contests and his point form reads well, so an improved effort couldn’t be ruled out.

Curragh

If you’d have stuck with Chris Hayes for all his rides at the Curragh this season, you’d be in £116.62 profit to level stakes. That’s a remarkable statistic, given a strike-rate of five wins from forty-two starts.

Aloha Star has shown strong improvement this season and has perhaps been overlooked in the feature Phoenix Stakes. She made it two wins from four when downing Frenetic over course and distance, her first try over six furlongs. Today’s race should suit much better, with stronger pace looking likely, and further progress couldn’t be ruled out over the trip.
