Andrew Elliott wouldn’t be one of the household names out there when we think of leading jockeys in Britain. Nonetheless, he is a very able and capable rider and the stats back that up. At Catterick in 2021, he has ridden eight horses and four of them have won. That is a staggering 50 per cent strike-rate and although it is a relatively small sample size, it is clear that he enjoys riding around the Yorkshire track.
Given his record around the course, it has to be extremely interesting that he will go there for just one sole ride on Tuesday. He will want to make the most of his excursion to Catterick and will probably have to win the race to make it pay financially. Let’s take a closer look at the horse below.
The Class 5 Get So Much More With Racing TV Handicap is a competitive 13-runner affair on paper. The race will be run over 7f and the horse in question is the Geoffrey Harker runner, Mr Strutter. A seven-year-old son of Sir Prancealot, he had his final run for John David Riches over course and distance last month and will have his first run for his new stable on Tuesday.
At first glance, he has to have a massive chance on paper and arguably would be the deserved favourite for the race. He is a five-time course winner who has notched up two wins and two runner-up finishes from his last four starts, all of which were at this course. Only finding one too good here last time out, he is just 1lb higher and looks sure to be in the thick of things again.
