Jockey with a 50 per cent strike-rate at Southwell rides a 12-1 shot on Monday 🔥

Tom Bellamy has had just four rides at Southwell so far this season but that hasn’t stopped him from ridding two winners. This gives him a very healthy 50 per cent strike-rate at the track during the current campaign. With this in mind, his sole ride at the track on Monday could have a solid chance.

3.00 Southwell

Amelia Marianne (12-1, bet365) makes her bumper debut here and she certainly didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Purchased for just €2,000, this five-year-old mare was about as cheap as you can get. This is perhaps impacting her price but monetary value isn’t the be-all and end-all in this game. Her pedigree suggests she should be capable of winning races and she’s out of a point-winning mare.

Trainer DJ Jeffreys has been in very strong form in the last fortnight. He’s currently operating at a 43 per cent strike-rate, with three winners from his seven runners. This could prove to be a dangerous combination and a big run could be on the cards. Jeffreys’ last two runners have both won and she has the opportunity to make it a hat-trick.

The market is suggesting that we shouldn’t expect much from this bumper debutant but the trainer’s form and the recent record of her jockey make her a more interesting proposition. Potentially one to keep an eye on, she could outrun these odds.
