ITV horses for courses: three runners with proven records at Chester and Huntingdon

There are any number of factors to consider when trying to pick out winners and course form is a major one. Horses aren’t machines and they often perform better at some tracks than others. ITV are covering five races from Chester and one from Huntingdon on Thursday so we’ve picked out three horses with proven records at their respective tracks.

This could be especially important at Chester as the very sharp track doesn’t suit every horse. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.30 Chester

Radio Goo Goo has had two starts at Chester and she currently boasts an unbeaten record at the track. David Evans’ filly won at this meeting last year and went on to complete her hat-trick here later in the season. The second of those course wins came off a 1lb higher mark and she simply has to come into the reckoning with that in mind.

1.50 Huntingdon

Kay Tara Tara is perhaps up against, with the hat-trick seeking King Of The Road in opposition here. One thing she does have in her favour is a 100 per cent strike-rate at Huntingdon, having won her only start here. It was a solid performance that day and the second has boosted the form by winning since. Whilst it’s a concern that she has failed to win since, the return to this course and distance combined with the quick conditions should facilitate an improved effort.

3.40 Chester

Arrest absolutely bolted up in the Chester Vase last year and it was a performance that put him right in the Derby picture. He beat the subsequent Irish Derby runner-up and Group 3 winner Adelaide River by more than six lengths that day. John & Thady Gosden’s colt is perhaps not the most consistent of horses but clearly possesses plenty of ability. Very much the one to beat here, he’s hard to oppose in this company and can get the job done.
