‘I think he will win the Ballymore’ – Irish trainer tells people to back Cheltenham double 🐎

Barry Connell

Trainer and owner Barry Connell has had tremendous success already this season and he thinks that there is plenty more to come as the Cheltenham Festival comes over the horizon and is now only a matter of weeks away.

Interviewed by Nick Luck a few days ago, Connell spoke with incredible confidence when speaking about his two Grade 1 hopefuls in a few week’s time at Prestbury Park. Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

Marine Nationale is close to favouritism now for the opening race of the festival and Connell thinks that his horse is good enough to win it. The son of French Navy has won all four career starts to date, including the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse when last seen in December. He had a few sketchy jumps on the day and hit 50s in running on the exchanges, but his class shone through. Kept fresh for Cheltenham, this strong traveller could take stopping.

Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle

Connell’s exact words to Nick Luck when speaking about Good Land was ‘I think he will win the Ballymore’. That was an incredibly bullish statement but the horse delivered when landing the Grade 1 2m6f novice hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival. He is a big specimen of a horse and could go chasing in time but he goes to Cheltenham with a serious chance. Barry Connell has told people to get on the double and best of luck if you decide to follow his advice.
