Huge gamble alert: Horse backed from 14-1 into 6-1 at Sandown

Sandown Park

Our resident horse racing expert Adrian Wall has always been an avid market watcher. He has spotted a pretty large ongoing gamble taking place in the 7.37pm at Sandown tonight. Don’t miss out on our posts on Twitter @myracingtips where you can message us directly and have your say. Our free horse racing tips are also available every single day and we have been in terrific form this month. Let’s take a closer look at this big gamble in more detail below.

7.37 Sandown

Pam Sly is a very good dual-purpose trainer and it is interesting that one of her runners has been smashed off the boards at Sandown tonight. Backed from highs overnight of 14-1 all the way into 6-1, Dark Spec has been subjected to a lot of support since last night and that has carried on through this morning. At this rate the horse could even go off favourite.

This Class 5 handicap is very competitive and the Dark Angel colt will carry the burden of top weight so it is no easy task. However, the six-year-old came back from nearly a four year absence to run a huge race at Beverley last month. Beaten less than four lengths into fourth, that was some run off the back of such a length of time off.

Dark Spec is still very lightly raced and clearly had his issues but connections might be rewarded for their patience tonight. He was fourth behind the once 96-rated Thrave at Newmarket when last seen in action in 2017. If his ability remains, he could be very well treated here off a mark of just 70 and in form jockey Dougie Costello takes the ride.
