Hottest jockey in Britain right now travels to Newcastle for two Tuesday rides 🔥🔥🔥

Newcastle Racecourse - Beware The Bear and Sean Bowen

Theo Gillard is the hottest jockey in Britain right now with five winners from his last six rides. They were all very good prices too, returning at starting prices of 16-1, 12-1, 10-1, 10-1 and 7-1.

The talented rider landed a memorable treble at Uttoxeter on Saturday for trainer Donald McCain, who has had a remarkable season too himself. The weekend treble formed odds of 1,767-1 and that took McCain to 107 winners for the season.

Gillard travels to Newcastle for two rides on Tuesday. One is for McCain and the other is on a big outsider that is interesting.

This is a very competitive 0-100 handicap hurdle and Gillard takes the ride on Bonny Houxty. This nine-year-old mare was pulled up at Hexham on her seasonal reappearance in November so has a lot to find in order to get involved here.

However, there is cause for some optimism. When she ran in her first handicap in 2020, she raced off a mark of 106. Now, she can race off 88 so the handicapper has really given her a good chance.

Bonny Houxty ran a couple of nice races in novice hurdles in the past and last year ran respectably in a couple of handicaps off much higher marks. If she is anywhere near her best, she is weighted to go close.

This is without doubt Gillard’s best chance of the day by a country mile. The red-hot jockey will ride Bob’s Bar for red-hot trainer Donald McCain and it would be hard to back against them in their current form.

Bob’s Bar won a novice hurdle at Hexham in October and has since run well in defeat behind the talented Washington and High Moon. He ran on well in second at Catterick last time out but needed more of a test and should get that around here off the back of a wind operation.
