Wolverhampton has a seven-race card on Monday and the Tapeta surface doesn’t suit every horse. With that in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out three previous winners at the track who have proved their liking for the course. These include a veteran with no fewer than 45 starts at Wolverhampton to his name. Check out our free tips page for daily content across all British and Irish racing.
Brazen Idol (9-2, bet 365) got off the mark on his second handicap start over course and distance two runs ago. His form on the all-weather is considerably better than what he has shown on turf. The third has won since and the seventh has won its last two, providing a substantial boost to the form. It would be disappointing if he doesn’t go close back on his preferred surface.
The John Jenkins-trained Bang On The Bell‘s (4-1, bet 365) form is significantly better on the all-weather than on turf so you can ignore his last run at Windsor. He has an exceptional record in three starts here and hasn’t been out of the first two whilst winning twice. Back at his happy hunting ground, much better can be expected despite the 8lb rise he has to contend with.
Street Poet (9-1, bet365) is an absolute legend at Wolverhampton. With 45 career starts here, there are few horses out there who would know the place better. All but one of his career victories have come here and the current grand total is 10 course wins. Having placed a further nine times, it’s fair to say he likes the place. Back in April last year he won over course and distance by almost five lengths and on just a 2lb higher mark, a big run could well be on the cards.
