Horses for courses: Three Taunton winners form a 34-1 treble on Thursday 🏇

Course form is one of the most important factors to consider when trying to pick winners. Taunton is a tight right-handed track which wouldn’t be to every horse’s liking. With that in mind, we’ve picked out three horses running there on Thursday who have won there in the past. These include our Nap of the day and all three should have a significant advantage. Ballee made a fine start to his hurdling career with a solid third behind a useful prospect on his debut over timber and for this yard at Wincanton last month. He followed that up by getting the better of a smart sort by a comfortable margin over course and distance next time out, whilst in receipt of 12lb. There should be more to come and this looks like a winnable race despite the 7lb penalty.

2.40 Taunton

Amelia’s Dance always saves her best for Taunton and she’s won here three times in seven starts. The most recent of those came by a comfortable margin in December 2022. It was a cracking effort when a narrow second off a 3lb lower mark in a similar race at Kempton last time. If reproducing that level of form, she shouldn’t be far away once again. Robert Walford’s mare tries 2m3f for the first time here and she’s definitely worth giving a chance to.

3.15 Taunton

Heros got off the mark over fences at the first time of asking over course and distance last time out. Venetia Williams’ charge can cope with a 6lb rise and there should be loads more to come. Williams is enjoying a fantastic season so far and is currently sixth in the trainers championship, despite having the fewest runners in the top 10. This lad is more than capable of adding to her tally of 22 winners.
