Horses for courses: three former track winners to follow at Brighton

Brighton Racecourse

Brighton Racecourse is a unique test for a horse. It is no surprise that only certain types take to the track. We have gone through the card on Tuesday to find horses with proven course form.

It also takes a clever rider around here. You don’t want to let your horse loose down the hill as they need to conserve some energy for the stiff finish. Only the horse and rider that utilise their energy correctly can win around here.

Let’s move on to the three horses that we feel it may pay to side with….

2.30 Brighton

There are two former course winners in this field. Weardiditallgorong is a former winner over track and trip and is having her second start for Pat Phelan. However, she has been in awful form and the other course winner Sonnetina is a much better bet. She disappointed when sent off favourite here last time but loves a sound surface and is worth another chance.

3.05 Brighton

Gary Moore’s Celestial Point is the only course winner in the field and should prove very difficult to beat. The three-year-old Pivotal filly won here over a mile in May and followed up at Lingfield at the start of June. She didn’t run up to her best when sent off favourite seeking the hat-trick at Yarmouth but is a huge player back down in trip.

3.35 Brighton

Both Granary Queen and Run Forrest Run have winning course form but the latter is the more interesting of the pair. The Bobby’s Kitten gelding won comfortably off 6lb lower earlier this month over track and trip. He didn’t handle the quirky nature of Goodwood’s track but has to be of interest returning to the scene of his last victory.
