Horse with form figures of 00-990 backed into 12-1 from 33-1 at Redcar 🤔

Redcar Racecourse

There’s been a significant move on runner at Redcar on Monday morning. The horse in question was 33-1 earlier in the morning but sustained market support has seen its price capitulate and the best available odds are now just 12-1. Interestingly, the horse has been out of form for some time now and its figures read 00-990, which doesn’t inspire confidence. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out as the strength of the support suggests that he’s expected to return to form in a big way.

2.16 Redcar

Arkid makes his debut for Ian McInnes in a 6f handicap and he has shown little in three starts at Southwell this year, for previous connections. The fact that he is also running from 4lb out of the handicap here won’t aid his cause. It’s going to take some performance to even hit the frame in this race, let alone win it.

This four-year-old tries 6f for the second time here, having tried it just once before, back in January 2022. There is one standout piece of form which offers hope. He was second off this mark at Wolverhampton in July and was beaten by less than a length. If he can translate that level of form onto the grass here, a big run could be on the cards.

Despite the fact that it’s hard to find the evidence to support this monster gamble, the support is coming from somewhere so it’ll be fascinating to see how this plays out. This could be worth keeping an eye on, up until the off.
