‘He’s the King around here’ – Frankie Dettori Lucky 15 on Day 1 of Royal Ascot 👑

Frankie Dettori and Ascot racecourse often go hand in hand and for good reason. He’s the king around here and he’s set to retire at the end of the season. This means it’s the Italian’s final Royal Ascot this year. He has a terrific book of rides on Tuesday so we’ve combined his four best chances into a Lucky 15. 2.30 Ascot

Inspiral (2-1, bet365) has bundles of ability and can perform to a very high level on her day. She was utterly dominant in the Coronation Stakes here last year and a repeat of that effort would see her go very close. The mile division looks very open this year and she could exploit that here.

3.40 Ascot

Manaccan (5-1, bet365) was hugely progressive last term and ended up winning a Group 3 at Dundalk on his final start of the year. Finishing third in a Newmarket Group 3 on seasonal debut, he should improve for the run. He has a little more to find here but his profile suggests that the requisite improvement could be forthcoming.

4.20 Ascot

Chaldean (9-4, bet365) won the Dewhurst Stakes as a juvenile and went on to win the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in March. This is probably his toughest task to date, up against O’Brien’s Paddington, but there’s every chance he can rise to the challenge.

5.35 Ascot

Saga (4-1, bet365) probably should have won a handicap here last year and his form suggests the step up to Listed class is within his capabilities. It was probably a career-best effort when a narrow second off 102 at Newmarket last time and he may improve on that here.
