‘He’s riding out of his skin’ – The bookies dread this Ryan Moore Lucky 15 at York

Ryan Moore is riding out of his skin recently and was at his brilliant best at Chester last week, where he gave his fellow jockeys a masterclass. He’s operating at a very healthy strike-rate of 30 per cent in the last fortnight so he’s going to be popular on Day 1 of York‘s Dante Festival. We’ve put his four best chances into a Lucky 15 and the bookies will be praying Moore stays out of the winners’ enclosure. 2.42 York

Two Tribes ran a screamer when finishing third by a head at Newmarket on seasonal debut and may well have come out on top with an extra stride or two. A similar performance here would surely give him every chance and a 2lb rise shouldn’t cause too many problems.

3.13 York

Inisherin was an impressive winner of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last season and that form makes him the one to beat. Sprinters usually get better with age so there should be more to come at four and if that is the case, he will be too good for his rivals here.

3.45 York

Whirl took a few runs to get the hang of things as a juvenile but progressed to win a Group 3 at the back end of the season. Aidan O’Brien’s filly looked badly in need of the run on seasonal debut over a mile and she should come significantly for it. The step up in trip is also likely to help and victory can’t be ruled out.

5.25 York

Don Simon remains very lightly raced, especially in handicaps, and he should be getting off the mark sooner or later. A narrow second in his last two starts, it’s unlikely that we’ve seen the best of him yet and winning off a mark of 80 should be a possibility.
