‘He’s mounting a title charge’ – Harry Cobden goes to Southwell for a 23-1 double 🥇

Harry Cobden doesn’t usually ride as frequently during this stage of the season. Paul Nicholls’ stable jockey is mounting a serious bid for the jump jockeys’ championship this year however and he’s been pretty busy in recent weeks. It looks as if he means business and he’s on a title charge. His strike-rate in the last fortnight is an extremely healthy 32 per cent, having ridden 11 winners from his 34 rides.

Cobden travels to Southwell on Tuesday for two rides and he’ll be desperate to come away with more winners, having ridden a double at Fakenham on Sunday. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

2.15 Southwell

Bbold (5-1, William Hill) has a bit to find with his two rivals on the balance of his most recent form. He’s unbeaten in two starts here at Southwell and the most recent of those victories came in May 2022 for Richard Newland. That victory came off a mark of 125 and he races here off an 8lb lower mark. This is just his third start for Syd Hosie and his third in a hunter chase at Newton Abbot last time was an improvement on his previous effort.

4.20 Southwell

Dasher Riley (3-1, William Hill) put in a huge performance on debut for Laura Morgan at Worcester last time out. He shed his hurdles maiden tag at the fourth time of asking, on his first start for 273 days. It’s fair to expect some improvement here and he’s still unexposed in handicaps. Morgan has developed a knack for getting horses to go on winning runs and this progressive sort could easily follow suit.
