‘He’s got all the attributes’ – Dan Skelton very bullish about 20-1 Grand National hope 🗣️

The Grand National at Aintree is set to take place a week on Saturday. Trainers will be putting the finishing touches to their preparations for the big race. Dan Skelton has been very vocal about how confident he is that one of his runners is a live contender. Already a big-race winner this season, the horse in question will be trying to add another to his record. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

‘This was always the plan’

Le Milos won the Coral Trophy at Newbury in November, which in itself is a prestigious race. Connections are looking to win the most famous race of all at Aintree next week and the trainer believes he has the tools to go all the way. Skelton said: “This was the plan right at the start of the season. We were always hoping to make him into a Grand National horse. He’s very straightforward and I think he’ll stay.

The Newbury race is certainly a decent Grand National trial as you need plenty of stamina and a little bit of class to win it. Only the horse can prove he has the requisite stamina reserves to thrive in this very unique test but the signs look good.

‘He’s a high-class horse’

His trainer believes there’s plenty to like about this horse and his record of two wins and a second so far this season legitimises Skelton’s confidence. Skelton added: “Obviously that’s not a given, you’ve got to go and prove that, but I think he’ll stay and he’s got all the attributes. He’s very easy to ride and there’s a lot to like. He’s a high-class horse, he’s won a Coral Trophy and that’s a good marker.”

Anything can happen in the Grand National as there could be as many as 40 runners and plenty of fences to jump. Dan Skelton is brimming with confidence going into the big race and he appears to have a legitimate contender on his hands.
