‘Her best form obliterates the rest’ – 14-1 shot aims for Stewards’ Cup glory 🎯

The big race of the day is undoubtedly the £250,000 Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood on the final day of their Glorious festival. Andrew Balding saddles Chil Chil (14-1, bet365) for the big race in what is a fascinating move. Her current rating of 110 means she’ll be carrying a huge burden which should make this a mammoth task. One would have to assume there must be some confidence behind her to even attempt this coup. It’s important to note that her best form obliterates the rest of this field.

On her final start of last season, she finished third in the Group 1 Sprint Cup at Haydock and was beaten by less than a length. There were plenty of classy sorts in behind her that day such as Creative Force and Winter Power. If performing to that level here, she should take this regardless of the weight on her back. The last time Chil Chil forayed into a handicaps, she destroyed a competitive field by nearly four lengths off a mark of 97.

‘His 5lb claim is a huge advantage’

This quality mare was last victorious in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle in June last year. Her eighth on seasonal debut was fair enough as it was her first start for 315 days and can be forgiven for needing it.

Harry Davies is an incredibly talented apprentice and his 5lb claim is a huge advantage. He’s massive value for that allowance which could make all the difference. Now that she is effectively racing off of 105, her odds are all the more appealing and this could be a steal.
