‘He isn’t one to waste ammunition’ – Liam Bramall fancies 33-1 shot at Royal Ascot 🎯

Royal Ascot kicks off in the strongest possible fashion on Tuesday with an awesome seven-race card. Day 1 is perhaps the strongest of the week and there’s plenty of action to sink your teeth into. As the racing is so competitive, there’s plenty of opportunities for some big price winners. Liam Bramall has picked out three outsiders who can outrun their massive prices. Brian Meehan isn’t one to waste ammunition so it’s interesting that Show Respect is available at such a big price. This colt improved a tonne from first to second start and won in the style of a smart horse at Leicester. The second carried him badly right and he still won impressively. He’s value for more than the winning margin and if he improves again, running a big race won’t be beyond him.

Lazuli hasn’t been seen since winning a Group 2 in Meydan back in February. 5f is clearly his trip and he’s still relatively lightly raced for a five-year-old. Ground conditions are set to be quick and Lazuli will be well suited to the fast going. We’re yet to see the best of him and this is a good opportunity to show us what he can do. James Doyle takes the ride which suggests he’s the stable second string but that isn’t a concern as it wouldn’t be the first time Buick has picked the wrong one.

Make My Day has been luckless in his last two starts. The Gary Moore-trained gelding was blocked off when making a race-winning run on the rail both times. He came out of those races looking like the best horse and the way he looks outpaced a few furlongs out suggests the extra four furlongs here could facilitate some improvement. Simply has to get some luck at some point!
