‘He can lead from start to finish’ – three front-runners to follow at Plumpton 💨 💨

Plumpton Racecourse

Plumpton Racecourse is the classic small, scenic, rural British jumping track and it suits a small nippy type. The left-handed track is only a mile circuit but the long uphill finish to the line from the home bend makes it a pretty stiff test, especially in winter on soft ground. It is important to search for horses with proven course form and it usually pays to follow runners who like to be up with the pace around the track’s tight turns. We have picked out three front runners who have a live chance on Wednesday.

There won’t be much pace on here so it could play into the hands of the pronounced front runner Rocky’s Treasure. The topweight had a barren spell in 2021 but this is by far the easiest handicap he has been assigned to in his career. The former Grade 2 winner also won a handicap chase off 138 in the past and is now 11lb lower in the weights.

3.40 Plumpton

In form veteran 12-year-old Ben Brody loves to get on with things so it could take a right good one to stop him in his tracks here over the sharp two miles. The keen-going sort should be able to pinch a lead of a few lengths and has a good 7lb claimer on his back to ease the burden of top weight. He can lead from start to finish.

4.10 Plumpton

Good Time Ahead has been off the track for close to three years so comes with obvious risks attached. It will be important to monitor the betting closely because if he does come back fit and ready to go, he looks well treated on the pick of his form. He is a nippy ex-flat horse who can race keenly but likes to belt off in front and if they give him too much rope he will be dangerous.
