Harry Redknapp looking to “Shakem Up” with 12-1 Betfair Hurdle contender

Harry Redknapp has compared his horse Shakem Up’Arry with the footballer Harry Kane in terms of quality. That is a bold statement. Currently 12-1 with VirginBet for the £125,000 Betfair Hurdle, he is a live contender in a very hot race.

In a call hosted by Great British Racing, he was asked to compare him to a footballer. Redknapp said: “I’d like to think he’s a Harry Kane you know. Very professional, gives everything. Always gives his best, team player.”

“I think he’s a pretty honest horse, I think he gives everything he has got to offer every time he runs.”

Redknapp is still on the go in the football world and currently helps out Bournemouth’s caretaker boss Jonathan Woodgate. The owner and former well regarded football manager will make his debut on Soccer Saturday this weekend.

A frustrating clash

However, little did he know that Shakem Up’Arry would be running in the Betfair Hurdle at the very same time.

He continued: “I’ll have to ask Jeff Stelling to find a way to get me off air for a bit to watch the race as I’m not going to miss him running. To be truthful, if I had remembered he was running I might not have agreed to it.”

The horse was last seen finishing a well beaten second behind Metier in the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown.

“He’s come up against some good horses in Metier and Shishkin last season. He’s ran well in big races to finish second,” said Redknapp.”

“It would give me a real buzz to win with him. Hopefully we can get back to the racecourse soon and see him run in some more big races.”
