Gordon Elliott launches raid at Cartmel on Sunday & the treble returns 90-1 ⛴️

Irish trainerGordon Elliott

Gordon Elliott is no stranger to having runners in Britain, and in particular Scotland bar the big festivals. However, he hasn’t sent runners to Cartmel Racecourse too often. In fact, before Friday, he had only sent one horse there in the last five years. This weekend alone, he will have sent five runners there and it was worth the trip on Friday as one of his two runners obliged.

Operating at a healthy 18 per cent already this season, Elliott’s three runners at the picturesque track on Sunday without doubt need a second look. The three runners combine to form a 90-1 treble on Sunday. These prices are subject to change.

1.50 Cartmel

The first Gordon Elliott runner of the day comes in the opening novices’ hurdle over 2m1f. Hophornbeam bolted up at Clonmel on his stable debut over 2m earlier this month. Elliott has clearly got something out of him already and there could be much more to come.

2.20 Cartmel

Platinumcard wasn’t disgraced despite finishing 13th in a Royal Ascot handicap over 1m6f last week, only beaten about six lengths. Raced off 99 on the level that time so in theory should be thrown in back over hurdles off just 111. Jordan Gainford takes off a valuable 3lb on the bottom weight.

The trickiest of the three runners will probably be Fancy Foundations, running in the toughest race of the day. This horse can be an awful jumper, and he will have to be on the ball in that department around here if he is to have any chance. In saying that, he has run in graded company several times and if he is on a going day, he is a threat to all.
