Dodgy Bob is the horse in question and there’s evidence to suggest a big run could be on the cards. This veteran has had over 100 starts during his career, winning eight times. Three of those wins have come on the all-weather and he’s a two-time winner here at Wolverhampton.

Michael Mullineaux’s charge last won a handicap here over 7f as recently as February, when he scored by half-a-length, off just a 1lb lower mark. This strongly suggests he has it in him to run a big race here, despite not being the most consistent. Five of his eight career victories have come over 6f so the drop in trip isn’t necessarily a negative.

His most recent victory came in Classified Stakes company here in March. Three of the horses in behind have won since, indicating that there’s some substance to the form. He’s been a bit below-par since that victory but the handicapper has responded accordingly.

It could be worth keeping an eye on this situation and seeing how it develops throughout the afternoon. One thing is for sure; we’ve certainly seen gambles with less substance than this one.
