Gamble alert: Phillip McBride runner slashed into 12-1 from 25-1 on Sunday 📉

There’s a significant amount of market support for Phillip McBride’s sole runner of the day at Southwell on Sunday. Having been available at odds as big as 25-1 on Saturday evening, the horse in question’s price has been slashed in half. As there are currently no signs of the support waning, this could be significant. The Fantastic Harry Davies takes 3lb off which will certainly help the horse’s chances. 1.40 Southwell

Hopeman Harbour (12-1, bet365) is the subject of this substantial move. The three-year-old gelding has struggled badly over 1m2f on his last three starts, being beaten by a total of 99 lengths. Despite these very unappealing efforts, the positive is that he has slipped down to a mark of 55 as a result.

Returning t0 a mile is definitely a positive move as he obviously doesn’t stay 1m2f. There is one piece of form in particular that stands out as promising. He finished third at Haydock on handicap debut over a mile and was only beaten by a length-and-a-quarter. This effort came off a mark of 61 and a repeat of that effort off his current rating of 55 would be more than enough to win here.

A return to form will absolutely be needed but over a more suitable trip, there’s a good chance that it’s forthcoming. It would certainly be premature to write this horse off as he’s inexperienced and unexposed with just eight starts to his name. A win certainly isn’t out of the question and some clearly believe that today could be the day.
