Catterick is a peculiar track which is tight, undulating and somewhat tricky for horses coming from off the pace. Liam Bramall has you covered with these three runners on Friday whose best recent form has been whilst making the running. The pace bias might give these contenders enough of an advantage to make all the difference. Check out our free tips page for daily content across all British and Irish racing.
Topkapi Star put in a promising effort on her first start on the flat for nearly two years at Musselburgh last time out. She finished third of three beaten by three lengths and she should be able to build on that effort. The handicapper dropped her 1lb for that effort which should encourage a good run here. Having been collared in the last furlong, the drop down to 1m6f may well suit and this looks like a winnable race.
Militia is a very interesting contender as he blazes out of the stalls and sets a fast galop. He often treads a fine line between cooking off his opponents and cooking himself off. Paul Midgley’s gelding has an excellent track record with two wins and two places in five starts, including his last win which came over course and distance off his current mark of 81. Conditions look set to be in his favour so a big run could be on the cards.
Divine Connection looks set for a big run in this very low grade claimer. Craig Lidster’s mare made all in good style in a Pontefract handicap when last seen. If she can put in a similar level of performance here the race could be won by the four-furlong pole. She went off in front, increased the tempo four furlongs out and the result never looked in doubt.
