Friday’s angles: Stat of the day, Low drawn horses at Beverley and a July Cup tip

Friday is going to be a busy one, with seven meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland, and we’ve picked out a couple of interesting angles. Trainer George Scott has an excellent strike-rate at Doncaster this season and there’s a significant draw bias to consider at Beverley. The July Cup takes place at Newmarket next week and Liam Bramall has picked out an ante-post selection to consider. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Follow George Scott at Doncaster

Newmarket trainer George Scott has done well at Doncaster so far this season, with four of his five runners coming out on top. It’s hard to argue with an 80 per cent strike-rate so we’ve assessed the chances of his two runners at the Yorkshire track on Friday.

War Gaming makes his debut in the opening 6f novice and the son of Mehmas cost £85,000 at the sales. His dam is a distant relative of Group 1 winner Sudirman and Scott has a healthy strike-rate with his two-year-old runners this season. Don’t rule out a big run.

Moulin Booj landed a Wolverhampton handicap over this trip off just a 1lb lower mark back in March and has returned to form in the last month or so. Finishing third by half-a-length at Windsor on his penultimate start, a similar effort would give him a decent chance.

Go low at Beverley

Beverley’s infamous draw bias strongly favours horses with a low draw so we’ve picked out a couple who could go well. Fast Track was a nose away from getting off the mark at Nottingham last month and connections rated her highly enough to run her at Royal Ascot. Stall one gives her every chance here.

I’m Next is in fine form at the moment and he was a comfortable winner at Redcar last time out. There will be no excuses from stall two and he should go close, despite a 5lb rise in the weights.

July Cup tip

Mission Central (6/1, bet365) needed every yard of the 5f trip to win the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out and the return to 6f, at this sort of level, should suit. Clearly he’s a talented young sprinter with a big future and it’s likely that the best is yet to come from him.
