Five of Paddy Twomey’s last six runners have won and he sends one to the Curragh

Irish trainer Paddy Twomey has a strike-rate of 53 per cent in the last fortnight, which is impressive enough in itself, but his form in the last five days or so is even more outstanding. Five of his last six runners have won and that makes him one of the most in-form trainers around. With that in mind, his one runner at the Curragh on Friday has to be worth adding to your notebooks. 7.55 Curragh

Naoi has a smart pedigree and is distantly related to the likes of Ol’ Man River and Finsceal Beo. This daughter of Siyouni made her debut at Cork last month and she was a respectable third over 7f. She was little outpaced at a key stage but stuck to her task well and kept on nicely.

It’s interesting that she’s been dropped in trip on the evidence of that effort but obviously the three-year-old is entitled to improve significantly for it. Her trainer will be hoping to strike whilst the iron is hot and there’s every chance she will be bang in the mix once again.

Twomey’s recent record in maidens is particularly good and four his last five winners came in this sphere. That certainly bodes well for Naoi’s chances and there should be plenty more to come from his three-year-old.

Bonus Time was second on debut at Cork also and Gavin Cromwell’s filly looks like the main danger. The experienced Cold Hearted finished third over course and distance last month and shouldn’t be discounted with that in mind.
