Fast-ground horses to follow on ITV at York on Saturday

York Dante Festival

At the time of writing this article, the ground at York Racecourse is good to firm. With more dry weather forecast, we are pretty much guaranteed very fast ground for the week.

Adrian Wall has picked out four horses at York that will love the ground. All four races will be live on ITV Racing so you can watch every race at home from the comfort of your chair.

2.00 York

Serena Brotherton is without doubt the most sought after rider in these lady amateur events. She will ride the Ian Williams-trained Byron Flyer who will have conditions to suit. He ran better than the bare result would suggest when 6th at Chester last time from a tough draw and all of his best form is on good to firm.

2.35 York

Gifted Ruler has won on heavy but he ran an absolute belter on good to firm last time out at Newmarket. This is his first run for over a year but he was narrowly denied by Boccaccio who is now rated 99. Running off a mark of just 91, the selection has to be of interest providing he is fit after an absence.

3.05 York

Frankie Dettori has been booked to ride Red Verdon and although he can be hard to win with, he should land this. The globetrotter has competed in some top races and he won a Group 3 on good to firm in the past. He won’t find a better opportunity than this to get his head back in front.

3.40 York

Internationaldream has run on good to firm ground twice in his career. He won at Ayr on fast ground this time last year and was only beaten a length at Pontefract on fast ground in April. He runs from the same mark here and should remain competitive.
