Willie Mullins has a big chance in the bumper at Punchestown and here’s why 🗣️

Longhouse Poet wins at the Punchestown Festival

The week kick starts with four meetings, as we look towards a scintiatling Saturday at Ascot. The Clarence House will see Shishkin take on Energumene and it’s going to be a clash that could define the season. On Monday, we’ll have racing from Chepstow, Punchestown, Fakenham and Wolverhampton.

If there’s one combination to be feared, it’s Willie and Patrick Mullins in bumpers. The duo have a frightening record in flat events and this season and Patrick has a 37% strike-rate in bumpers, holding a 40% strike-rate at Punchestown specifically. The duo team up on Monday in the last and you can find all the details below!

4.05 Punchestown – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Flat Race

The runner in question is Brookline, who makes her stable debut for Willie Mullins. She has run twice thus far, both in the care of Padraig Roche over hurdles. Sent off at 22-1 for her debut at Fairyhouse, she finished a well-held second behind a runaway winner, doing plenty wrong but showing lots of promise.

As a result, she was 9-4 for her second hurdling start at Cork, but she proved no match for the front two. Her jumping was a bit novicey once more and she perhaps didn’t find the ground testing enough, conceding first run off the bend, and positives can still be taken from the performance despite defeat.

She now makes her debut for a stable that excels in this sphere and switching to bumpers could work the oracle. She’s travelled well into both her races and given the size of this field, she should get a strong gallop to aim at. With plenty of experience to call upon and conditions to suit, she may prove too strong for these rivals.
